Monkfruit is rarely available fresh and spoils quickly. It also doesn’t store well. Monkfruit is usually dried and is often used used to make medicinal teas. Monkfruit sweeteners are made from the fruit’s extract and are sometimes blended with dextrose or other ingredients to balance sweetness. Monkfruit extract is said to be many, many times sweeter than sugar. Since it derives from the “sugar” family, dried monkfruit is not BLE-friendly; only the whole, fresh fruit would be allowed, and the serving size would be 6 oz.
