The body interprets weight loss as a stressor. One of the possible side effects is hair loss. This is both temporary and normal. You will not become bald. The temporary hair loss from rapid weight loss will taper off and hair will begin to regrow over the upcoming months. This type of hair loss does not affect more than 10 percent of hair follicles. Hair loss, for those who experience it, typically peaks 4-8 months after onset of the weight loss program, but then will eventually return to normal with small hairs growing again. Remember that the weight loss phase is temporary. When you begin maintenance and add more food, you will see your hair returning to its normal state.
