What should I do if I’m really struggling, feeling discouraged, and just want to give up?

So many of us who are caught up in the cycle of obsessive eating can reach a place of despair.  An Emergency Action Plan is a tool we can use to not give up on ourselves. Don’t give up on yourself! Create an Emergency Action Plan with five actions you commit to taking before you eat off your food plan. This is particularly helpful when eating in a restaurant. One way to have this readily available in your mind is to read it every day. We suggest you make it accessible in your wallet or on your smartphone.

Here are some suggestions of items you can put in your Emergency Action Plan:

  • Call your buddy
  • Post in the Online Support Community
  • Pray
  • Meditate
  • Write a gratitude list
  • Write in your journal
